Founding
Martin Lodge was granted a dispensation by the Grand Lodge of Iowa on March 13, 1919, for the purpose of starting a new Masonic Lodge in Waterloo. The official charter was granted by the Grand Lodge of Iowa on June 11, 1919.
Martin Lodge was named after Philo J. (P.J.) Martin, Past Master of Waterloo No. 105 and Past Grand Master of Masons in Iowa, in appreciation of the assistance in organizing and establishing this new Lodge.
There were 23 Charter Members for the first stated meeting on Monday, June 16, 1919.

This new Lodge was so popular that Martin Lodge held five special meetings to begin the initiation of new members before its second stated meeting on Monday, July 14, 1919.
